Week #15 - God's Plan

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you understand my thought from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down, and are intimately acquainted with all my ways. Even before there is a word on my tongue, behold, O LORD, You know it all. 16 your eyes saw my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand When I awake, I am still with You. Psalm 139:1-4,16-18

1. While God does not cause any of our pain or scars in life (all good things come down from above), God uses our pain, our scars, and our sufferings to make us more effective in ministry and to complete His plan. (II Cor 1:4) As the master Craftsman, how has God used your pains or tragedies to equip you to bring comfort to others?

2. How did God use the Tuohy family to bring about His plan for Michael Oher? How does this stirring movie encourage you as you have been adopted in Christ?

3. The Bible says that we have a treasure (our spirit, talents, gifts) in an earthly vessel. How can you identify in your own life with this young man's former insecurity? What treasures are you carrying that God wanted to bring to the world?

4. Much as this artist took a piece of raw stone and crafted it into his artistic vision, the Bible says that God hand-crafted you specifically how you are. What does it mean to you that you are "fearfully and wonderfully made," and to know that the "tap, tap, tap" you hear is your Father's hand on the mallet of your life, carefully crafting every detail of His vision for your future?
