Week #12 - God's Spirit

"I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you." John 14:16-17

"But you are not controlled by your sinful nature.   You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to Him at all.)" Romans 8:9

Greeting and introduction from Men at the Cross Founder, Joe White.

1. John 16:8 says that the Spirit will convict the world of all sin and righteousness. How does the teacher in this clip remind you of the conviction of the Spirit? How does his patience, mercy, and reassurance remind you of how the Spirit has dealt with you when you have failed? How do conviction and grace collide in your heart to provide change?

2. God says He has not given us a spirit of fear, but the Spirit within us gives us boldness and a sound mind. John 14:26 says He will teach you in all things. Romans 8:11 tells us that the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead will make alive our mortal bodies. What other beneficial attributes of the Spirit can you recall from Scripture? Describe your feelings as you embrace these amazing promises.

3. John 16:13 "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth..." God's word speaks of THE truth, yet today's society seems to promote an idea that truth is relative, and truths are as varied as the people who hold them. How has God's Spirit made himself real to you as your guide during these last 12 weeks as you have sought after him?
