Mike Matheny

Mike Matheny is a former baseball catcher, playing for four different teams during his thirteen years in the major leagues.  He was drafted in 1991 out of the University of Michigan by the Milwaukee Brewers.  Matheny played for the Brewers, Toronto Blue Jays, St. Louis Cardinals, and San Francisco Giants.  He won four Gold Glove Awards and was considered one of the great defensive players in the Major Leagues over the last several years of his career.  Mike was one of only three other catchers during that time to play 100 games without a single error.  He also won the Willie Mac Award in 2005 for spirit and leadership.

All Mike Matheny wanted to do is play Major League Baseball. Once he achieved that goal, he found that there is something much more important in my life: a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Matheny has seen many good baseball players come and go, and wondered what their goals would be when baseball is over. He started looking at his own life as well, and realized that the accomplishments on earth are only temporal, but what Jesus Christ offers will last for eternity.
